Nina Boasso

My practice of Yoga began eight years ago. After the life changing experience I encountered with Hurricane Katrina, I made the decision to start sharing the gift of Yoga through teaching. In February 2006, I enrolled in the teacher's training program at Yoga School in Covington, Louisiana. My teacher and mentor, Becky Gelatt, is trained in the lineage of Iyengar Yoga, certified in Viniyoga and has been teaching for over 30 years. I completed and became certified in the program in February 2007 and registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.

I continue to study and practice Yoga, attending workshops with some of the leading teachers in the profession including Gary Kraftsow and Donna Farhi. I also continue my studies of various styles with local teachers including Bikram and Iyengar Yoga with Bruno Teyssandier and Centered Yoga with Tara Engeran-Jacobs.

I teach Hatha Yoga classes to students of all ages in Mandeville, La. at Franco's Athletic Club and work privately with students for a deeper understanding of body awareness through Yoga. I am also employed by Brandt Quick, B. Quick Development, and teach high school and college athletes Yoga. In addition to my Yoga certification, I am certified to teach Silver Sneakers Yoga Stretch, through Healthways. My students are 65 years young and over! It is exciting for me to see a student, whatever the age, reach their fullest potential through the practice of Yoga.

I am a native of New Orleans. My husband Larry and I moved to Mandeville in 1995 and have two children, Ted and Adrienne.
